Steve Roell, former CFO, takes over as CEO of the huge company, Johnson Controls. My connection: as “mapmaker” at JCI in Milwaukee, between 1999 and 2005, I worked with all divisions on a wide range of business mapping projects. Steve Roell was admired by employees, very approachable, and an exceptionally good communicator at quarterly meetings which he ran more like university seminars than boring business meetings. Working there was a fascinating experience, almost as amazing as my previous career as a stock analyst at Robert Baird. Well, “fascinating” and “amazing” are relative terms. Riding a bike around the island of Texel, for example, sets a rather higher standard.
